The Forest Department, as a public oriented entity, fosters Belize’s economic and human development by effectively enforcing relevant policies and regulations for the sustainable management of its natural resources through strategic alliances and efficient coordination with relevant stakeholders towards this goal.
The Forest Department oversees the conservation, protection, management and utilization of Belize’s forest resources and its biodiversity, while ensuring that the productive capacity of the forests for both goods and services is maintained or enhanced for the sustainable development of the Belizean people. The role of the Forest Department, therefore, is to coordinate the implementation of the forest policy within the regulatory framework established to achieve its mission.
