About Me

Adam originally trained in Zoology at the University of Sheffield. He then went on to work as a volunteer in Thailand. It was here that he began working with gibbons and the local people from the area. Adam then went on to work briefly as a zookeeper at Monkey World: Ape Rescue Centre. Here he established his dynamic skills in public speaking. Adam then went on to complete a MSc in Primate Conservation at Oxford Brookes University. It was here where he developed the understanding and passion for education in conservation. These theories and skills were then put into practice when Adam became an education officer at Marwell Zoo. This involved everything from formally teaching four year olds up to adults, covering curriculum based subjects such as animal behaviour, conservation, and even marketing. The job also involved graphic design, working with local stakeholders and media groups, practical conservation of native species and organizing regional environmental education workshops.  Since 2006 Adam has worked at Rare, originally based at the English training centre at the University of Kent in the UK. He has worked on many social marketing conservation campaigns from central Africa, the Caribbean and the Pacific. As a Regional Program Manager he has now moved to Fiji and is involved in both teaching the Rare Pride Campaign Managers and then supporting them whilst they carry out the 2 year long community based campaigns. Past campaigns have looked at changing levels of knowledge, attitude and ultimately behaviour change. They have targeted issues from illegal bushmeat hunting and over fishing to solid waste management and invasive species.

Getting Creative

It is great working with d'Shan at the moment especially because we are finding creative solutions to getting a quick tyrn around on draft designs of some of her upcoming materials. We have been working on the following:

1. Billboard for the General Public

2. Bar Poster - a more tongue in cheek version for fishermen in the bars.

3. Fishers Poster - this is specifically for fishers and wil be placed in the areas in which they congregate and very action orientated.

Personally, I love getting in there and designing again (a throw back to my past job) and as I can turn things around quicker we are looking as though we are catching up on our timeline. Hopefully you can see the branding throughout and the repitition in phrases and colour schemes.

Coming Soon! New Campaign Song from Fiji Superstars

In designing the campaign song, Margie was working with one of the FLMMA team on the ground at the campaign site. Little did I know that he was in turn not only a FLMMA key player but also linked to a famous group in Fij (Drodrolagi kei Nautosolo). So when he began writing the song with them they liked it so much that they are putting it on their next album for general release. So watch this space and soon you will be able to hear it too.

For a taster of their music visit: www.youtube.com/watch?v=e6AvcUSL1RA (my favourite song, just ask Margie)
