The Dashanbao black-necked crane national nature reserve implements many protection measures. It executed a restoration project to promote community-based forestry and convert existing farmlands to forest areas. Other initiatives include: increasing foraging space in moor lands and pastures; protecting wild plants and restoring marsh vegetation; improving water quality; and creating media production and running educational campaigns for local communities.
