The Division's fisheries, wildlife, enforcement, marina, and education groups are each responsible for different conservation tasks within the Commonwealth. The fisheries and wildlife research and data collection programs work to protect endangered species and restore their habitats. Both groups establish protected areas with varying levels of restricted activities. The Division also establishes regulations to govern hunting, harvesting, and fishing activities which are mandated by local and federal law. The education group builds local capacity by informing students, educational professionals, and the greater public about conservation in the Commonwealth.
Mission Statement
Through research, monitoring, regulation, enforcement, planning, and management, the Division of Fish and Wildlife seeks to ensure the long-term survival and sustainability of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Island's natural resources for present and future generations.
