Our symbol of pride is the True Giant Clam.
UNDP, in partnership with other organization, developed an innovative site water related work. WaterWiki aims at being a knowledge map and on-line collaboration platform for Water Sector Professionals and Practitioners worldwide, to find - and share! - experience and knowledge about water-related work in the international (UN) context.
For the Palau campaign we chose the true giant clam as our “flagship species”. Giant clams are beautiful animals that can live up to a 100 years in the water. Palau is truly blessed to have 7 out of the 9 species in the world. And I think this is one of the many reasons why we chose it as our flagship species. In preparing for the first community outreach I was able to work with Collin Joseph who is from Melekeok State. Collin was very instrumental in establishing great partnership with the Kim er Belau campaign and the community of Melekeok. He sits on the Melekeok State Legislature which allows him the opportunity to speak on behalf of the state of Melekeok.
