On last Sunday, 2nd August 2009, there were held Declaration of Jakarta green belt by Fauzi bowo, the governoor of Jakarta province. This activity also as start point to greening the North Jakarta coastal area.
As a mascot of Pride campaign in Muara Angke, Ceni also attended the activities. In this occasional Ceni were meet with the Jakarta governoor province. little chat were happened between them, several question asked according the status of Javan coucal, were they still lived in Muara Angke Wildlife Sanctuary? and such on. During Ceni presence, she accompanied two Jakarta Green Monster volunteers.
Our campaign area located in crowded urban area, where the population high and our campaign about reducing people who dump their waste in to the river. We initiating people to separate their waste.
Since the location is limited in space area, quite difficult to use usual separator, we propose to try use sugar bag for the rubbish separator. We put four sugar bag that had been modify before, and hang it in metal stick.
As differentiating, on each sugar bag we wrote the rubbish specification as. As practice it is helping in the problem of space area, but it needed to replace at least once a month because of the condition of the sugar bag.
In Muara Angke Wildlife Sanctuary live Javan coucal, one endemic bird species that in the world only live in Java. This species, with scientific name Centropus negrorufus identified that in Jakarta only live in this area. Identification 46 cm. Medium-large, marsh-dwelling coucal. Adult glossy black above with purplish gloss on mantle. Rufous wings with blackish tips to flight feathers and upperwing-coverts. Long black tail and purplish gloss to blackish underparts. Red iris, black bill and feet (http://www.birdlife.org, 2009). Birdlife mention on their website that the main threat appears to be the destruction and degradation of mangroves and swamps as a result of widespread conversion to fishponds and agricultural land, and reclamation for urban expansion and industrialisation. Suitable habitat on Java is now fragmented.
