Nam Et - Phou Louey National Protected Area social marketing campaign were implemented in two Army Camps in campaign site, militaries are indentified as one of our tartget audiences (Illegal Hunters) because these militaries are signated to carry gun, hunting with modern guns is the most impact to both tigers and ungulates which are the key prey of tiger.

The second villages visit of Nam Et - Phou Louey social marketing campaign is completely implemented, all most the campaign materials were given to every household in 36 communities with an exception of the campaign album CDs which were produced after the second village started and only 16 villages received the CDs, there are 20 villages to be received the CDs in early August. We made it!

On the occasion of National Wildlife Day (July 13), the campaign member saw this event as the big potential to keep the momentum of our campaign alive. The campaign team members set up a booth right center of Viengthong district, all of the campaign materials (poster, comic book, sticker, campaign album etc) were displayed at the booth. Also wildlife photos exhibition was displayed at the booth and anti-illegal hunting and wildlife signs were displayed around the town, the team had questions for people who passed by, the winner was the one who answer the quesiton collectly get campaign materials which related to the question. This event was officially opened by the District Governor and most of the high ranking positions of the district participate with the event.
The second village visit and illegal hunters meeting has been implementing in 29 out of 36 villages, 7 more villages to go.

Date 9 July 2010 News Threatened and Endangered Species Possession Case In the evening of July 3rd 2010, the Wildlife Crimes Unit from Viengthong District Huaphan Province recieved a call from the hotline that a couple had endangered wildlife in thier possession in That Hiem Village, Viengthong District.
Today the husband and wife team who purchased gaur bile from two Hmong villages near the border of the NEPL NPA on July 3rd were given the choice to participate in an investigation of the sellers of the bile, or be sent to the provincial jail and court in Hua Phan province. The offenders chose to cooperate with authorities under the assurance they would be given a reduced sentence. This morning the Viengthong Wildlife Crime Unit mobilized to Sop Lao Village, Hua Muang District, Hua Phan Province to investigate who sold the gaur gallbladders. Observers from Sop Lao village confirmed that two Hmong woman did, in fact, sell the gallbladders to the Hin Huap couple. However, government officials were unable to apprehend the sellers of the gaur bile. The couple’s fine was reduced from $1830 to $975 USD and their jail sentence suspended allowing them to return to their village at Hin Huap, Vientiane Province.
Today, one person called hotline number to report there were two people husband and wife offered two Guar's biles to some villagers in Viengthong district (Campaign site). WCU rushed to inspect an incident. The WCU team found those two people (husband and wife) had two Guar's biles, Guar is prohibited species in Laos law. The case is prosecuted by the Office of Prosecution. The two offenders are in jail.
