Ratu Qio - mascot for Fiji!!

The  shark mascot for the Fiji Pride Campaign, Ratu Qio is due to grace our shores come the 28th of August, 2010 for the closing procession of the Hibiscus Festival. He is coming all the way via Saipan (CNMI) , thanks all due to Brooke Nevitt, former campaign manager from CNMI.

I am so excited to see him and take him to the campaign sites to share the key mesages of the campaign and as one of the top predators in the ocean, it will be only too convenient that he share the need for us all to save and protect the rest of the marine species in our oceans, irrespective of MPA's or not.

He will be making his debut appearance at the Hibiscus Festival on the 28th of August, 2010 to be the lead in a float procession organised by Conservation NGO's and government.

I am greatly looking forward to having him and showing him off at the communties.

Margaret, He looks great. Can you send a few photos of the shark mascot to pthornton@rareconservation.org? I'd love to put him on our blog.

And let us not forget his companion your other mascot the Bump-head parrot fish which is following close behind. Please send photos to me of the shark. Thanks.
